InBody 580 Body Composition

Progress beyond
the scales.

Body weight is one measure. An InBody 580 scan adds estimates of muscle, fat and body water, giving you more context for the changes you are working towards.

The composition of your progress

Same weight.
A different picture.

When you are changing how you train or eat, the scales may leave useful details out of view.

InBody uses bioelectrical impedance analysis: small electrical currents and the body’s resistance to them help estimate body composition. The 580 provides muscle, fat and water measures, including analysis of individual body segments.

The report offers a starting point for a conversation about your goals and a way to compare later scans. It should be read in context, alongside other health information.

Read beyond the total

Four ways to see
your composition.

The report organises different measures. This guide explains the categories without showing example client results.

01

Muscle & lean mass

Skeletal muscle mass and lean-mass estimates add detail to total body weight. Segmental lean analysis looks at the arms, legs and trunk.

02

Body fat

Body fat mass and percentage describe a different component of your weight. Look at changes alongside the muscle measures and your broader goals.

03

Body water

Total body water and its compartments help place a scan in context. Hydration and collection conditions can influence measurements.

04

Segmental balance

Separate measurements of the right and left limbs and trunk offer a more detailed picture of distribution across the body.

Your appointment

Step on.
Get some perspective.

  1. 01

    Arrive at the Hub

Your appointment takes place at Supercell Health, 353–355 Anzac Parade, Kingsford NSW 2032. The team checks suitability and guides the setup.

  2. 02

    Take your scan

Remove shoes and socks, stand on the foot electrodes and hold the hand electrodes as instructed. Stay still while the device measures.

  3. 03

    Understand the report

Receive a printed body composition report and an explanation of its sections. Ask how the measures relate to the goals you want to track.

The measurement itself is brief. Your booked appointment allows for setup and the report conversation. The appointment length and fee are shown below.

Make comparisons meaningful

A little preparation.
A clearer baseline.

Follow the team’s instructions for your appointment. Consistent conditions matter when comparing scans taken on different days.

  • Plan your scan before exercise and avoid a sauna or bath beforehand.
  • Use the bathroom before measuring, and ask the team about meal timing.
  • Where possible, use a similar time of day and similar preparation for repeat scans.
  • Wear clothing that allows bare-foot and hand contact with the electrodes.

A baseline you can revisit

Look for the pattern.
Give progress context.

01

Start with a question

Choose what you want to follow: muscle, body fat or overall composition, in the context of your training and health goals.

02

Compare consistently

Agree a useful interval with the team. Keep preparation similar and consider the pattern across scans alongside how you feel and perform.

A little clarity

Before
you begin.

What does an InBody scan measure?

The InBody 580 estimates body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis. Report categories include muscle and lean mass, body fat, body water and segmental analysis of the limbs and trunk.

Will someone explain the report?

The Supercell scan process includes a printed report and an explanation of its sections. Bring the questions you want to discuss. A wider health plan or further consultation is arranged separately.

Can hydration change my results?

Yes. Body water and preparation can influence composition estimates. Follow the team’s instructions and keep timing and preparation as consistent as possible when repeating scans.

Is it the same as a DEXA scan?

InBody uses bioelectrical impedance analysis, while DEXA uses a different measurement method. Different methods can produce different estimates. Interpret the results within the method used and use consistent conditions for progress comparisons.

Is grip-strength testing included?

Grip-strength testing is not listed as part of the scan appointment. If you want that assessment, ask the team about availability and any separate fee before booking.

How often should I repeat a scan?

Choose an interval that makes sense for what you are monitoring. The team can help you plan comparisons, taking your goals and the conditions of measurement into account.
